Hey, gang!
Just an observation here: For the assignment above I've been going through my music library listening to songs to find some examples of a really strong chorus. I was really surprised to find how many songs in my library DON'T have a chorus at all, or have really understated ones. Even the pop songs. I definitely found a striking lack of chorus!

Yes. I found this too. A lot of my favorite songs & artists (Girlyman, for instance) whose strength is NOT the chorus. More the way the chorus and verse or A and B sections work together overall.
One person who always always writes a killer chorus? Tom Petty. Try to find a bad chorus!
Another of my favorite choruses? Dixie Chicks'
"Wide Open Spaces." Love that chorus.
Still trying to find inspiration for my chorus, though. Anybody else gotten really inspired from a chorus?
Hope you all are having an inspiring, productive week.
All the best, Elizabeth
Maybe my definition of a strong chorus is differnt, but I seem to have several songs in my collection with a strong chorus.
For instance, try Trace Adkin's "I wanna feel something". this song really struck a chord with me the first time and I think it was the chorus the broke through my frozen heart.
I have started on a chorus from a new song idea based on a personal event this weekend. I think it will be a good song or at least I have answer for this week's assignment;)
Good luck!

Gary what genre of songs have you been listening to?
Does one genre typical have a stronger chorus over another?
I figured Ed might mention some rock songs like AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" or "You Shook Me All Night Long"
i was thinking of the song bonnie Raitt sings - "I can't make you love me", or Peter Gabriel's "In your Eyes"
i have been very inspired to work on the songs i already brought in - or maybe i am letting myself get distracted :) I did write lyrics to a song i got out of last week's assignment - but no music yet. Maybe in typical gemini fashion i will not get inspired until the last minute. :(
where is Ed?
